Cold

Post by Jules »

I love cold. My trip to Dallas was cancelled due to ice storms. While I don't wish havoc upon the general community, I miss ice storms. Georgia had some good ones.
I want to make chili.

I've been told that the answer to this question more clearly divides the north from the south than "should we own black people?":

Do you put beans in chili?

Also, not having an entire region shut down by some silly freezing rain. I swear, y'all can't handle cold weather.

Technically and according the International Chili Society, one should not put beans or pasta in chili.

But since I was a vegetarian for 10 years (and Chris was for most of his life) and we still rarely eat red meat now that we are off the wagon......yes, Kareem. Yes, I do.

Meat or no, I like to make mine with black and pinto beans, corn and loads upon loads of peppers. Hot. Hot.

I also like to make a black bean dish with coconut milk and sweet potato and a tiny dash of lime and cinnamon. Jalapenos optional.
Great over rice

No shit, man. But, I'd rather have everyone panic and stay the fuck off the roads than try to drive them and smack into me.

No, we can't. Maybe southeners just tend towards the dramatic anyway. I like a bit of chaos, a vacation from the everyday and as a kid, that's always what an ice storm meant to me. Something.....different and unpredictable.
Of course, I had heat and food.
This girl ain't driving in an ice storm cause even if I drive well, some other dude ain't gonna.

I put lots of beans in my chili. I am from Iowa. Does this make sense? Is it the Damn Yankees that put beans in chili?

I've never cooked chili. I've been wanting to try, though.
Sounds fun.
