Rose Bowl Celebration -- Ripe Advertising Opportunity
So, I assume there's going to be some sort of city/campus wide celebratory something-or-other (parade or some such) at some point in the near future. We need to hit that shit with thousands of flyers.

The news this morning was reporting that UT has requested the city hold off on celebrations until the students return and that basically the Athletic department would be "calling the shots" as it were as to when and where celebrations would be taking place.
The 17th is the day after MLK day and the first day back for the semester. However, it is also on a Tuesday, so they may wait and do something that weekend as far as parades go so that people won't miss it for work or the first day of classes. Football is important, but surely the school would get some negative flap holding a parade on the first day of classes. (My bet is that there will several things that week, maybe a campus rally the night of the 17th, a reception or two that week, and a parade that weekend. We'll have to wait and see.)
I'm there with you and I'm keeping an ear open for details.

I heard the details on the radio on my way home from work last night. As of right now, this is what is planned:
"The University of Texas will honor the 2005 national championship football team with a celebration on Sunday, Jan. 15 at DKR Stadium.
Longhorn players, coaches, cheerleaders, Bevo and the UT band will attend.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m."
That's about it so far.

Do we have flyers (like what we used at 1st Thursday) for this event? We should run off a shitload of them tomorrow.
If someone sends me the file, I can hit a Kinkos and print them out, if necessary.
Let's meet on Sunday at 4:30 right in front of the library at 21st and Speedway (across from Jester.) That should be less-crowded than anywhere near the stadium. Then we can hand out stacks of flyers, and walk towards the stadium.
If we could have stacks of flyers in the box office at The Hideout this weekend (if we don't already...we may have some leftover from 1st Thursday), that'd be good. People could pick up a stack at some point this weekend.

Someone pointed out that we should hand out the flyers to people on the way out of the event, as opposed to the way in. Less chance of them just chucking them in the stadium.

Yeah, I can send you the file after rehearsals this evening. In fact, I'll upload it to my webiste and post a link on here so that anyone can get it and make copies at work or home or Kinko's or wherever.
How many people does that stadium hold because I bet twice as many will show up. 100k or so?
We should get as many flyers as we can, because I bet we can easily hand out a few thousand.

Here's a link to the flyers. Two to a page, just print and cut anyone who can...

Here it is in color if anyone wants to drop the big bucks and get some made:

How is this going to work? Are we each responsible for printing out our own flyers?
