FACT OF THE DAY: Canada and Denmark have a territory dispute over Hans Island, a 1/2-square-mile island of bare rock halfway between northern Greenland and Ellesmere Island. Although the island has no intrinsic value, various crews have planted Danish and Canadian flags on it since 1984.
