FACT OF THE DAY: Auguste Deter (1850-1906) was the first patient formally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. During a recent examination of her brain tissue, which remains available for study, researchers discovered that Deter was actually suffering from leukodystrophy, not Alzheimer’s.
