FACT OF THE DAY: The Italian bank Credito Emiliano offers loans to Parmesan cheese manufacturers and stores the cheese itself as collateral. Its vault contains almost half a million 80-pound wheels of cheese which are kept in storage while they mature. In 2009, thieves tunneled into the warehouse and managed to steal 570 cheese wheels before they were caught.
