FACT OF THE DAY: In 2006 hotelier Steve Wynn agreed to sell Picasso’s painting “La Rêve” for $139 million, the most ever for a work of art. As he described the pending sale to a group of friends, however, Wynn accidentally put his right elbow through the painting, causing a six-inch tear in the canvas. Following a $90,000 restoration job, the sale went through in 2013.
