FACT OF THE DAY: In 1988 Billie, an Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, learned the “moonwalk” trick from other dolphins while in captivity in Australia. After her return to the wild, researchers spotted Billie and 11 other dolphins in her pod performing the trick for fun. It appears to have been a fad; the last observed moonwalk in the wild was in 2014.
