FACT OF THE DAY: At the opening ceremony for the new terminal at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport in 1959, a fighter jet performed a supersonic flyby of the airfield. The sonic boom shattered every window in the building and caused the north wall to collapse. The terminal didn’t open until 1960.
