FACT OF THE DAY: During the Year Without a Summer, Percy Bysshe Shelley and his paramour Mary visited Lord Byron in Geneva, Switzerland. Being trapped indoors by the unseasonal weather, Byron proposed that they each write a ghost story. Several nights later, 18-year-old Mary Shelley had a “waking dream” that became the idea for “Frankenstein.”
