FACT OF THE DAY: The Independent, a 690-foot residential tower being built at 301 West Ave, is now the tallest building in Austin, surpassing the Austonian by 7 feet. It’s the 8th building to claim the title since the Capitol was completed in 1888; the Capitol is now the 31st-tallest building in Austin. You’d need four Independents stacked on top of each other to match the Burj Dubai, though.
