FACT OF THE DAY: MSG, a flavor enhancer common in China, fell out of favor after a 1968 article described something called “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome” as a negative side effect of consuming it. This syndrome has never been shown to exist; only in recent years has MSG returned to popularity.
