FACT OF THE DAY: When Alfred Hitchcock bought the rights to the novel “Psycho,” he asked his assistant to buy as many copies of the book as possible from the publisher to keep the ending a secret. Hitchcock also helped to end the common practice of entering a movie theater at an arbitrary time, watching a movie in progress to completion, then staying around to watch the beginning of the next showing.
