FACT OF THE DAY: In 1846, the British Museum acquired a dead snail from Egypt, glued it to an index card, and put it on display. In 1850, staff noticed that the card had become discolored; after detaching the snail and placing it in a warm bath, the snail came to life. The snail lived for two more years before (really) dying, and its shell was put back on display.
