FACT OF THE DAY: In 1962, NASA designed a rocket called the Sea Dragon that would be 490 feet tall and 75 feet in diameter—30% taller and twice as wide as the Saturn V. The Sea Dragon would launch while floating vertically in the ocean, with its cargo compartment at the waterline. Its estimated cargo capacity was 1.2 million pounds, which would have been enough to launch the entire space station into orbit at once.
