FACT OF THE DAY: Pan Pan, a giant panda at China’s Wolong Nature Preserve, single-handedly saved his species thanks to his remarkable virility. Of the 520 giant pandas currently living in captivity, more than 130 are descendants of Pan Pan. Pan Pan died in December 2016, three months after giant pandas were declared no longer endangered.
