Asaf Ronen liked Austin so much during his Out of Bounds trip that he's coming back and he's going to be a busy boy. Some things to look forward to -

Saturday December 2nd 10am: Physical Improv
Using elements of clowning, mime, and improvisation learn to enhance scene work with a more nuanced physicality. Discover new characters, different approaches to creating a relationship onstage, and new definitions as to what makes an engaging narrative while using only your body.
Cost - $15
Location: The ColdTowne Theater

Saturday December 2nd 1pm: The Two Person Dynamic
Regardless of how many people are in an improv scene, it ultimately boils down to a two-person dynamic. Star Wars was an epic battle between good and evil, but it wouldn’t have meant as much if there weren’t Darth and Luke in the middle of it all. This class is about exploring the greatest depths of the two-person scene as well as building multi-person scenes with a strong dynamic at its core.
Cost - FREE for ALL ColdTowne Conservatory Students
Location: The ColdTowne Theater

Wednesday December 6th 7pm: Improv Diagnostics
Find out what your strengths are and where you could explore further. Learn what your patterns are and how to break them through personalized challenges. Maximized stage time guaranteed. Working scene after scene allows the most individual growth possible. Great for beginners who want to develop new skills and for professionals who want to keep fresh.
Cost - $15
Location: The ColdTowne Theater

Saturday December 9th 10am: Breaking Out of the Scene
Learn how to go beyond the linear storytelling of improvisation by incorporating editing and presentation techniques appropriated from independent films like Amelie, The Royal Tennenbaums and Reservoir Dogs. Techniques will be shown on developing a group’s awareness to all the possibilities that are available to a group at any given moment in an improv scene.
Cost - $15
Location: The ColdTowne Theater

Reservations begin immediately for these classes.

Asaf is also guest performing with ColdTowne in the December 1st Threefer and performing in his own show, Hyperlinks, in the Double Barrel. There will also be a very special performance at The ColdTowne Theater with a unique format the second weekend of December. More news on that to come.

I could not stay away from the loveliness that is Austin (and the people therein) for long. Looking forward to being down there whilst the rest of my friends freeze their creative collective asses in NYC.

If you didn't see the Imp show at OoB in which Karen and Asaf did an entire set with, what, maybe ten words between them, then you missed a real treat in telling stories through physicality. The show was inspiring.

I took "Breaking Out of the Scene" in Chicago and had a super fun awesome time. It was, and still is, the most interesting improv workshop I've ever taken. I also took Diagnostics in Toronto and found it super useful.

I've been getting RSVP's through email as well, so reserve your spot with a post or with an email (preferably a post) before it's too late!
