FACT OF THE DAY: A Slinky contains 80 feet of steel wire wrapped into 98 coils. Over three million miles’ worth of Slinky have been sold since its introduction in 1947. Slinky’s inventor, engineer Richard James, donated most of his profits to various religious cults, and eventually emigrated to join a cult in Bolivia.
