FACT OF THE DAY: In the 1980s, biologists discovered that Australian jewel beetles were incessantly attempting to mate with discarded bottles of Emu brand beer. The bottles’ color and shape resembled female jewel beetles enough that the males would hump them to the point of exhaustion. After Emu changed its bottle design, the problem stopped.
