FACT OF THE DAY: In 1977, a geologist in uninhabited northern Labrador, Canada came upon an abandoned weather station that was discovered to have been secretly built by the Nazis in 1943. The station, which transmitted weather data back to German territory during World War II, had been effectively undiscovered for almost 30 years. Its construction was Germany’s only invasion of North America during the war.
