FACT OF THE DAY: A 60-foot-tall statue of Leonardo da Vinci, erected in 1960, greets visitors to Rome’s airport. In 2006, during renovation, a worker found a secret compartment midway up the statue, inside which were found parchments that tell the history of the land surrounding the airport. Having passed away in 1973, the sculptor had no comment.
