FACT OF THE DAY: In 1887, “Buffalo Bill” Cody took his Wild West show to London. His entourage included 209 cast and crew, 180 horses, 18 buffalo, 10 elk, 5 Texas steers, 4 donkeys, and 2 deer. The touring show played for five months, with up to 30,000 spectators at each performance. Queen Victoria made her first public appearance in 25 years to see the show, and was so impressed that she returned to see it a second time.
