FACT OF THE DAY: One of the requirements of the hajj pilgrimage, expected of all Muslims, is to ritually slaughter an animal at the end. To accommodate the two million pilgrims per year, a variety of proxy options are available, including tour packages that slaughter the animal for you, and coupons that text you when an animal has been slaughtered on your behalf. (The meat from the slaughtered animals is distributed to the poor around the world.)
