FACT OF THE DAY: In the late 1980s, miscreants would frequently jam the token slots on New York City subways, causing deposited tokens to become stuck inside the slots. Once the coast was clear, they would then place their mouths against the slots and suck the tokens out. The scam was defeated when NYPD and MTA employees began spraying chili powder or Mace around affected slots.
