FACT OF THE DAY: In 1976 at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, Maine, teacher Roger Bennatti placed an unwrapped Twinkie on top of his classroom blackboard to demonstrate the power of food preservatives. ABC News recently reported that after 40 years, the “Twinkie experiment” continues, with the Twinkie on display in a glass case, discolored but otherwise unaffected by mold or decay.
