ART OF SLOW IMPROV WORKSHOP
Saturday, January 9th, 11am-2pm

$125/$100 with Early Bird code ImprovNerd (before December 20)
Winner of the 2012 INNY award for best comedy class, The Art of Slow Comedy teaches students before they can be funny they need to be real and how to slow down so you can find the “game” in the scene quicker. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to connect with your partner so your scene work will be more grounded and real, making long form as easy as having a conversation.

THE DARK SIDE
Sunday, January 10th, 11am-2pm
$125/$100 with Early Bird code ImprovNerd (before December 20)

Improvisers avoid going to the dark side. And here are the excuses: They think they can’t make it funny. They want to be liked. And the biggest one, they think the audience will actually think they’re that person they just played on stage. Guess what? You're acting! If you want to be a well-rounded improviser you have to be as comfortable going to the dark side as going to the light side. This workshop will start you on your way. This workshop is suggested for the experienced improviser who is willing to push himself to go to taboo and dark subject matter. "Not for the timid, this workshop."

JIMMY CARRANE is the host of the popular imporv podcast Improv Nerd, co-author of Improvising Better, and author of Improv Therapy and the Inner Game of Improv. He was an original member of The Annoyance Theater and Armando at iO Chicago, and has performed in Jazz Freddy and Naked with MAD TV's Stephanie Weir. His one-man shows include the hits I'm 27, I Still Live at Home and Sell Office Supplies and Living in a Dwarf's House. Jimmy has taught improv for more than 25 years at The Second City, iO Chicago, and The Annoyance and his Art of Slow Comedy Classes won the 2012 INNY Award for Best Class/Workshop.
