FACT OF THE DAY: NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto this morning after a nine-year, three-billion-mile journey. The “window” through which New Horizons sailed as it passed Pluto is 60 by 90 miles wide; this is the equivalent of traveling in a straight line from New York to San Francisco and landing in the parking spot you had selected before setting out.
