THE GO GAME MC JOB DESCRIPTION

Post by acrouch »

This is a San Francisco based business that is starting up in Austin. They're interviewing for MCs.
THE GO GAME MC JOB DESCRIPTION

The Go Game is searching for a responsible and tech-savvy person with excellent public speaking skills to assist with the production and presentation of high-tech urban adventure games for corporate team-building events. These games, which we like to call scavenger hunts on steroids, involve teams with web-enabled cell phones and digital cameras competing to win points through answering questions, interacting with actors, and coming up with creative photos and videos to win points. Your responsibilities will include meeting the actors, giving an introduction speech to the players, setting up A/V equipment, MCing the final judging presentation, and generally assisting the lead game runner with any miscellaneous tasks. A sample game timeline might look like this:

12:45pm: Meet the actors and get them ready for the game.

1:00pm – 1:20pm: Game Introduction – Give a 10-15 minute speech to the players explaining the game and how to use the technology.

1:20pm - 3:30 pm: The Go Game – During the game, help set up audiovisual equipment such as a screen, projector and sound, and help the lead game runner with other tasks. Or you might play an acting role in the game itself

3:30pm - 4:00pm: Teams return to the ending venue, where you help welcome them back

4:00pm – 4:45pm – The Judging – this is where you get to shine. The (hopefully) funny photos and videos during the day are projected on a screen and teams get to vote American Idol style for their favorites. You’ll MC the presentation, first explaining how the judging works and then leading the teams through voting while making snarky and hilarious comments about all the photos. Comedic skills are a huge plus here. Lastly, you’ll award fun prizes in a quick ceremony.

4:45pm - 5:00pm – Finish judging, breakdown of equipment, etc.

In total, this would be approximately a 5-6 hour commitment, generally in the afternoon, whenever games are scheduled in your area. Pay for each game assisted is $150. It’s a fun and fairly easy afternoon, plus you get to practice your stand-up skills on a captive audience. If things work out, this could lead to more responsibilities and higher pay ($300 a day) for game scouting, potential travel, etc. Most of our games at this time take place in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and Austin and we'd pay for travel costs.

I think I just signed up as a suspicious package.

You know we talked about doing this as non-traditional advertising back in June of 2005.
