FACT OF THE DAY: Take a number (e.g. 57), reverse its digits (75), and add the two (132). Typically after the first, second, or third iteration of this process, you’ll arrive at a palindrome number (e.g. 132+231 = 363). This fact is true for all small numbers, until you reach 196, where the iterations continue indefinitely, with no palindrome number forming. This process been automated by computer and created a number that is over 400 million digits long, but is still not a palindrome. This makes 196 the smallest number believed to be a so-called “Lychrel number.”
