FACT OF THE DAY: The city of Churchill, Manitoba (population 813) experiences an influx of approximately 1,000 migrating polar bears every autumn. The city has a police force dedicated to polar bear control, and a “jail” for bears that repeatedly harass citizens. Most cars and houses in town are left unlocked in case you need to jump into one to escape an attacking bear.
