FACT OF THE DAY: On February 2, 1970, an Air Force pilot ejected from an out-of-control fighter jet over Montana, only to watch the empty plane recover its bearings and glide to a safe landing in a farm field. The plane, known afterwards as the “Cornfield Bomber,” suffered only superficial damage and was returned to service almost immediately.
