This workshop will teach you the skills, temperament, level of support and polish you need to coach an improv troupe. If you have started coaching or thinking about throwing your hat into the ring, this workshop will teach you about patience, giving notes, taking notes, creating a lesson plan, leading warm-ups and exercises, honing your communication skills and time management.

Dave Buckman has directed, taught and performed at some of the world’s leading improvisational comedy institutions. After several years studying and teaching improv in Chicago, Dave served as Artistic Director of Boom Chicago in Amsterdam for 2 years, where he was fortunate to work with and direct some of the funniest people working in television and web-based sketch comedy today. He culminated his run in Europe with directing “Boom Chicago: RockStars” the second stage-swap with The Second City’s Main Stage in its 50 year history, After Europe, Dave worked as a director and teacher at The Second City in Chicago and Cleveland, directing Cleveland’s 2003 Main Stage revue, “Who’s yer Baghdadi?”. Since 2005, Dave has been living in Austin, TX with wife and creative partner Rachel Madorsky, teaching and performing with their award-winning troupe The Frank Mills. Dave also performs with BrainTrust, You’re Not My Real Dad and with Rachel and Dave. He is also a producer for The Out Of Bounds Comedy Festival, held every Labor Day in beautiful Austin, TX.
Dave Buckman has directed improv and sketch troupes and taught workshops all over the world including theaters and festivals in Washington DC, Chicago, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Cleveland, Chapel Hill, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta and Houston and has coached dozens of troupes in Austin including The Foolish Mortals, Nice Astronaut, Journey to the Big Water, Girls Girls Girls, Bad Font, The Smoking Arm, Array, The Glamping Trip, Improv for Evil, Collective Alibi and many many others.
