FACT OF THE DAY: The character Hodor in “Game of Thrones” is based on a 19th century French man nicknamed Tan, so called because he could only say the word “Tan.” The condition, called Broca’s aphasia, is caused by damage to a certain area of the left frontal lobe of the brain. Some sufferers are able to sing words that they can’t normally speak.
