FACT OF THE DAY: In 1965, the one-word poem “lighght”—you just read it—was included in that year’s edition of The American Literary Anthology. This earned its author, Aram Saroyan, a $750 award from the brand-new National Endowment of the Arts, which in turn made it a cause célèbre among fiscal conservatives.
