Stage Dynamics Workshop

This is happening! Sunday May 18th, 1-4pm

Often in a classroom or workshop setting the theatricality of the improv is a sidebar or afterthought. This workshop is designed to hone our awareness of how we look & feel onstage to build a richer experience. The three hours will be focused on movement and using the stage as a way to propel our improvised scene work. In this workshop, theatricality will be not an extra layer of polish, but the driving force behind what we do.

This course is intended for students with at least a few levels of instructed improvisation but any experience level is welcomed.
Instructed by Hideout Theatre faculty member, Jon Bolden.

We’ll explore:
– How movement and spacework fleshes out our environments
– Using movement to inspire “what happens next”
– Stage presence / grabbing the audience’s attention
– Building interesting stage pictures
– Utilizing organic & dynamic transitions / editing
– Using purposeful silence / non-motion in our scenes
