Hey all,
This is an official call for an assistant director position for my next improvised show I'm directing, Nothing and Everything (improvised Anton Chekhov plays). More specifically I am looking for a dramaturgical director (or dramatruge, if you will). Here's what I need this person to do:
1. Study or have prior knowledge of Anton Chekhov's last four full-length plays
2. Be excited about learning (or already have) a vast familiarity with turn-of-the-century Russian aristocratic and middle class cultures (i.e. furniture, food & drink, social conventions, clothing, family customs, careers, hobbies, etc...)
3. Someone excited and willing to help me find props, costume pieces, make art direction decisions appropriate for the period.
4. Be available Sept - Nov for rehearsals on Weds evenings for rehearsals and Saturdays for first several performances.
5. Forfeit the eligibility to audition or be cast in the actual show
6. At least partially enjoy being around Jon Bolden and getting emails from him all the time
7. Have exceptional attention to detail and desire to "go all out" with this
8. No previous improv experience is needed.
9. Research or academic history experience is a PLUS
10. Knowledge of Russian language is not necessary
Compensation is TBD. Think of it more of a volunteer position than anything, though
