TIT PITCH MEETING - April 27th

The Institution Theater Pitch Meeting for the 2014 Season in on April 27th from 6-8pm
The Institution Theater is looking to enlist the creativity in our Austin Improv community to fill out our 2014 programming schedule. This is for full-length original shows only (minimum run time of 60 minutes) that we would consider for an 8-week, once-a-week run at our theater (Friday 10pm shows will run for only 4 weeks).

FOR YOUR PITCH, BE PREPARED TO:
- Keep your presentation to 5 minutes or less
- Answer the question "What about this would compel an audience to see this?”

We are looking for shows that would fit The Institution style. Please review the four different show slots available as described below and consider which would best house your show idea.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY (Fridays at 8pm)
Friday nights are a chance for people to blow off steam and set the tone for their weekend. The Institution Theater wants to create a slot that feels like a party where a show just happens to be going on. Submissions should be on the quirkier, more frivolous side. We are promoting this slot as a high-voltage, hilarious celebration.
Examples: The Triple Scoop, Key Party, Joss Whedon Pajama Party.

THE CURIOSITY (Fridays at 10pm) 4-week runs only
The Curiosity is for cult comedy in search of a following. Strange shows for strange people with an edgy, darker-than-average humor. A place that John Waters or Russ Meyer would enjoy themselves.
Examples: Hell & Back Cabaret, Breaking Beckett, Mister Morbid.

OFFBEAT FEATS OF THEATER (Saturdays at 8pm)
The Institution looks to break the usual conventions of theater when it comes to the stories we tell and the ways we tell them. This is more than just improvised blank and not as simple as going for the shock value. This is about moving the boundaries of what is usually done.
Examples: Bad Girls in Plaid Skirts, The Suitcase, Pink is the New Black, Trust No One

THE AUSTIN LOCAL (Saturdays at 10pm)
Austinites are a particular breed and they like their humor with a particular flavor. The Austin Local slot is by Austin for Austin about Austin. It speaks directly to them in any tone, from homage to parody, and reflects on some aspect of the city that we live in for the better and the worse.
Examples: Fuck, It’s Hot!, The Velvet Rut
