Auditions for Semi-Improvised Musical

ROCK N ROLL PURGATORY is a musical developed through improv with songs written by Craig Kotfas and Asaf Ronen and improvised dialogue. Rehearsals will be led by Kotfas and Ronen on Tuesday and Thursday nights in April & May. Performances will be Fridays & Saturdays in June at The Institution Theater.

Auditions will be held Sunday, March 23rd in 10-minute slots between 11am and 3pm. We are looking with performers with skills in improv and singing. Being able to play your own instrument is a definite plus. Auditionees will be asked to improvise dialogue and a verse in addition to performing a prepared song to be performed a capella. There are three groupings of characters we are auditioning for:

THE ROCKERS - This story revolves around a four-pieceband on the rise who at the height of their career die in a tragic accident and wake up in Rock n Roll Purgatory. Prepare an alt-rock/indie style song to perform a couple of verses from.

THE CELEBRITIES - Rock N Roll Purgatory is populated by known singers who have passed: Amy Winehouse, Joey Ramone, Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, etc. Prepare a song to perform a couple of verses from in the style of any of these artists or any artist that has passed that you can do an impression of.

THE DEMONS - Rock N Roll Purgatory is also run by a bureaucratic team of demons who are lovers of music and sadism. Prepare a song from a musical theater song (upbeat please) to perform a couple of verses from.
