Austin Comedy Podcast - GOT YOUR BACK

Post by TexasImprovMassacre »

K.c. Harvey Taylor and I started a new podcast where we interview Austin comedians about their craft.

Each episode is separated into a few parts. We start with an interview of the guest, then move into a set of standard questions that we ask everyone, next we play a short joke writing card game together, and finally we end by sharing some music from a local artist we think people might like.

The first 2 episodes are available now on Libsyn, or here on itunes.

Please let us know over at our facebook page if you have any feedback about the show.

Thank you, and enjoy episode one with Michael Jastroch.

and episode two with Courtney Sevener

Episode 6 w/ Chris Mckeever is now available.

Chris is a newer face in our community, and I think we had one of our best conversations yet... We talk about the UCB Theater in NY from which Chris is a graduate, and we also discuss the upcoming Nice Astronaut "Back In Townsville" sketch show he is directing.

The episode includes a commercial by Wink Planet

Aaaaand, this episode ends with our most exciting musical guest to date. The band Crying gave us permission to play one of their songs at the end of the show, and we went with the song that we had originally considered for our theme song...So, please check out more of their music here: http://wearecrying.bandcamp.com/

Just wanted to say that this podcast is quickly becoming an essential part of my ear canals. The Arthur Simone episode was fantastic. I feel like you could have talked to that dude for several more hours.

We did things up big for episode 12 of Got Your Back!

Not only did we have a wonderful conversation with the super talented and funny Erika May McNichol (The Frank Mills, Braised in Texas).

We also received permission from, hands down, the biggest and most exciting featured song to end an episode to date, "end of the line" by Hurray for the Riff Raff!

We talk with Erika about her approaches to character, improv in Austin, and Directing and playing in the Bridgeport Correctional Facility Short Form Impromptu Skit Players show (8:30pm every Saturday in June at ColdTowne).

“Bridgeport Women’s Correctional Facility Short Form Players combines competitive short-form improvisation, ladies wresting and 70’s exploitation films into a single, vulgar comedy experience.Inspired by Jack Hill’s Switchblade Sisters, cult television show Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.o.W.) and old-school roller derby, Bridgeport is female prisoners from a north Texas incarceration unit performing short-form improvisation."
