THE HIDEOUT THEATRE:
8:00 and 10:30 - New Year's Eve shows
FACT OF THE DAY: Dropping a ball to mark the top of the hour originated in the 1830s at the British Royal Observatory, which would drop a lighted ball every day at 1:00 PM so that nearby ship captains could synchronize their clocks. The Times Square ball on New Year’s Eve is the only remaining example of this timekeeping method.
