ColdTowne Main-Stage Production: Boy Band Audition Notice!

AUDITION NOTICE (Sunday, December 8th at 12 pm)
Boy Band
Directed by Courtney Sevener
Choreography by Katie Moore
Move over, Backstreet Boys. Bye, Bye, Bye, ‘N Sync. There’s a new boy band on the block. Armed with a potential recipe for success, watch as a group of aspiring young heartthrobs (and the weird one) strive to gyrate their way to the next level, write the smash hit, and discover what it means to be number one.
WHAT:
This is an audition for the February ColdTowne Theater mainstage production of Boy Band. This improvised show takes place in the early 2000s when boy bands topped the pop music charts. It focuses on the relationships between the 5 classic boy band archetypes as they fight to stay relevant in a growing pop music industry. The show is a series of scenes exploring these character archetypes as they struggle or succeed at writing their next hit song. A few supporting characters will help keep the narrative moving throughout the show until we come to the final moments, when our boys will sing (improvise) their new single. Original music provided by local musicians: Meredith Mae Roberts, Ammon Taylor, and Andrew M. Basile.
Some choreography will be required for the show, but a general body awareness and ability to move in time to music is more important than dance experience. Don’t let the dancing scare you off!
WHO:
This audition is open to any male improvisers that are comfortable with singing and light dancing. Knowledge of the early 2000s pop music / boy band genre is a plus, but not required. All supporting roles have already been cast.

Rehearsals:
Every Sunday in January from 1:00 to 3:30 pm
(There will be an additional time commitment post rehearsal on 1/5 for a photoshoot)
Shows:
Saturdays in February at 8:30 pm (8:00 pm call time)

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Courtney Sevener performs with Franco, The Ladies (Outstanding New Troupe 2012), and also serves as a writer/performer/producer of The Hustle Show (Best Sketch Show/Troupe 2012), and red envelope (Best Sketch Show/Troupe 2013). She co-produced and directed Boy Greets World as part of the 2012 ColdTowne Theater mainstage production of TGIS.
Courtney is currently the Student Coordinator and an Improv TA for the ColdTowne Theater Conservatory program.
ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHER:
Katie Moore is a proud ColdTowne Conservatory graduate who has played as a member of Toyboat, Cheap Date, Scout, and Glamazon. She has performed in ColdTowne mainstage productions such as Sci-Fi Saturdays and Indy Movies, and has appeared in Red Envelope, Raney Nights with Scott Raney, and the Hustle Show. Katie is a former cheer coach/choreographer and has many years of dance training. She is also the Director of ColdTowne’s internship program.
