Why Coldtowne is (are) awesome.

Post by phlounderphil »

I'm going to follow Shannon with my own opinion about another Austin troupe, Coldtowne.

Now, I know that practically all of us either were or still are jealous of Coldtowne for all of the things they are doing. But we should also be humbled.

In the slightly more than a year since they've arrived, the members of Coldtowne (even latecomer Justin) have weaved their threads into our community, and into our hearts :)

They've also done a lot of amazing things,
- Performed at multiple festivals outside of the state.
- Created their own formats and side-projects.
- Built their own loyal fanbase of non-improvisers.
- Invited many of us to take part in multiple interesting shows (The Space, 321 Kill!, see.hear.speak, etc)
- Won awards for their sketch performance (Lovey & Lovey), their sketch writing (Chris Trew) and their pun abilities (Arthur Simone).
- Currently are building and preparing to open their own theatre.
- Currently are teaching their own classes to aspiring improvisers.

The members of Coldtowne are not only funny and intelligent, they are also all really cool people that I am privileged to call my friends.

Since I've known them, the members of Coldtowne have all been there for me at separate occassions. They've given me wonderful advice, given me a little bit of hell (see Tami and I's fight on the forum 2 months ago!), and Jastroch and Chris Trew even stepped up to help out Doug & Greg when I couldn't be there for a show.

And my personal favorite thing about Coldtowne is that they understand that competition is what will drive us to create a stronger community. By continually pushing themselves to do more, they've driven the rest of us to the same. It is through this idea of friendly competition that our community will continue to diversify and grow into a beautiful lotus blossom.

Yay Coldtowne! Yay Austin Improv!

You have made my life easier, Phil, as you said all the things that I wanted to say. One less I have to write. Are you also obliging yourself to be all nicey nice to everyone?

Like I said, your turn is coming.

Glad to make your life easier Shannon!

I don't really want to be all "nicey nice" to everyone, I just really appreciate Coldtowne. heh.

And just to sound all ominous.

Your turn is coming too Shannon! Your turn is coming too...

even latecomer Justin
I don't know. He's nice and all, and things like this can be hard to quantify, but it's kinda like I like him about 8 months less than I like the others.

Is joke! I kid, of course!

ColdTowne rocks my world!

Coldtowne Heroes is (are) the sexiest troupe in town! Their shows are improv sex. They are passionate, awkward, hot, comical, sticky, shocking, loving, liquid, dangerous, electric and (sometimes) a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of life. They make me want more, more, mmoooOOOoooRE!! Whew! Now I need a cig.

Yeah. I can’t say it better than Sarah. I love Coldtowne. I remember when they first got here I walked through them warming up by accident. I felt like I just waked through a car wash of love - a joy wash. you could tell they were going to put a great show because of their childlike-joyful-yesyesyesand-comunion-love-energy. They Rock, their shows rock. I like them as individuals very much and I’m glad they’re here…not to mention ALL they do plus they’re own theater. And the way they say Yes to supporting everybody else’s projects faster than you can say thank you. And they take care of each other and they're generous and they make people feel good. ColdTowne = Fuck City.

I love Coldtowne because they make stuff happen.

They don't just do theatre, they do theatrical events.

They live and breathe improv.

They are a great benefit to our city.

They make a really good fettucini alfredo.
