AIC Camping Trip 2013: November 8-10

Where are we camping? Government Canyon State Natural Area, near San Antonio.

What kind of camping? Tents and stuff. No climate-controlled cabin bullshit.

In the wilderness? Nah, we'll camp right near the cars. You can even sleep IN the car if you want. There will be restrooms and water nearby.

When are we leaving? Heading out early-ish Friday afternoon. Since it'll be after Daylight Savings Time, we'll need to leave relatively early if we want to get set up before dark. If anybody has to work until 5, then a second carpool will head out on Friday evening, but no later than 7:00.

When are we coming back? Sunday morning.

But I have a show! We strongly recommend clearing your schedule so you can make it both Friday and Saturday night. But if not, we can arrange back-and-forth carpooling during the day on Saturday. Don't drive down at night after your shows; most parks are locked up after 10:00.

What should I bring? Hey, I'm not your Scoutmaster. But a good start would be:
• Tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad
• Comfy warm clothes, like fleece and whatnot
• Hiking boots
• Bug spray, toothbrush, deodorant, etc.

What will we eat? Sam Schak is coordinating communal meals for Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Contact her if you would like to help plan or have dietary restrictions.

How much does it cost? About $40-50 per person for the campsite and the meals, final amount TBD. You might give your carpool driver a couple bucks for gas, too.

What will we do? Last year included cooking over the campfire, hiking, and a day-trip to Gruene. What will this year hold? Improv scenes? Capture the Flag? NO MAN CAN SAY.

I need to borrow something! I'll set up a Google Doc for that, and for the other administrative stuff described above.

Who's coming? Last year had 8 intrepid campers. I'm sure we can get a few more this year.
