FACT OF THE DAY: During World War II, the Red Cross distributed thousands of Monopoly sets with hidden escape kits to Allied POWs in Germany and Italy. The sets, identified by a small red dot in the Free Parking space, included game pieces that contained a compass, a file, and an escape map printed on silk. They also included quantities of German, Italian, and French money hidden amongst the Monopoly money. The sets were a state secret until 2007.
