Harold Practice Group

Post by HelloMyNamesWill »

Hello, I'm new to Austin. I'm a UCBNY trained improvisor and former House Team Member there. I'm looking to start a Harold Practice group of 6-9 people. I hungry to do long-form game based improv. Although it's possible this group would perform locally in the near future, my first goal is to practice Harold Structure on a regular basis. Maybe this group already exists and you are looking for a 8th or 9th team member to join. If so, I would love to try-out. email cleveland dot will at gmail dot com. Cool haha *fart noise!!!

Hi! I'm guessing your name is Will. :) Welcome to Austin and the AIC.

I recommend you send a FB message to Chris Albano, who's just started a weekly Harold jam on Tuesday nights (here's the invite for the most recent one). Also Scott Hearne, who's created a pickup Harold show that's had a couple of monthly performances thus far.

The Harold's not nearly as big in Austin as NYC/Chicago/LA, but you should be able to find some willing imps. I know the Institution and ColdTowne teach it as part of their curricula. One more name: Clifton Highfield, who teaches Harold at Institution.

Good luck!

Yeah, practice groups aren't nearly as big of a thing down here as they are in NYC since stage time is much more accessible. Most troupes get together for a month and start submitting to shows, even sooner if said group is made up of veterans/is brimming with hubris. If you start hitting some jams (ColdTowne has one on Tuesdays after the 8:30 show, I'm sure there are others as well) you'll start meeting folks to run reps with in no time.

Is that a private event? It just takes me to my events page.
