FANCY PANTS 44 hour Marathon show

Post by Ryan Austin »

They won't be super tired at the start of this show, but let's at least make them dress up!

That's right, Fancy Pants is happening on Friday June 21st for the 44 hour Marathon show at the Hideout Theatre.

This time there will be TWO hats, one for the marathoners and one for the cast. I'll draw a name out of each so EVERY scene will include at least one marathoner. For this show I'm only looking to cast 9 improvisors since we'll already have 8 marathoners.

Still don't know what Fancy Pants? Well, it (typically, but not this time) happens the first Friday of every month at the Hideout Theatre and is a Fancy Blast for ANY improvisor, no matter their current level, experience or improv background. Everyone from ANY theater or experience level is invited to sign up! Not in classes in Austin but have improv experience from elsewhere? Sign up! Come one come all. It's great for students looking to get more practice on stage and also a playground for veterans to try out new ideas or play with people they never get the chance to.

The show is a series of two person scenes. I draw two names at random from the hats and those players pick whatever they feel inspired to do! Big fan of Willem Dafoe? Sweet! Play him in a scene or make up a game like Only Willem Dafoe quotes (exactly like it sounds). Wanna play made up games like Batman Babysitter or Dinosaur Office? Do it. Want to play an old standby like New Choice? A grounded Scene From Nothing? Go for it. The sky is the limit.

I'll be casting 9 people and call time for Fancy Pants is Friday June 21st at 7:15pm sharp. The show begins at 8:00pm and FANCY ATTIRE IS EXPECTED. (The general rule is that there is no such thing as "too dressed up").

Please sign up with your first and last NAME, your EXPERIENCE LEVEL and/orTHEATER AFFILIATION. I post the cast list here on this thread the Tuesday before. No emails will be sent, so check back here in one week to see if you've been cast!

I want in! I've had to turn down the last two Fancy Pantses because of The Next Chapter! But I'm not in the show next Friday!

The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

I've only been in one Fancy Pants and it was a musical! Looking to get back on stage and have some fun.

I would love to be in Fancy Pants! But I'd probably wear a skirt.

I haven't been able to sign up for a few months, but I'm ready to make my triumphantly fancy return. Plus, I have a special outfit which I've been holding on to until just the right time. That time is now.
