Hi, there! I'm giving serious consideration to moving from Orlando to Austin later this year. Right now, I'm in the middle of a level 2 improv class and fully intent to enroll in the next two sessions here in Orlando. And, if I head out to Austin, it looks like y'all offers much more than 4 improv classes (you over-achievers). So many class options!
I'll be in town on Wednesday, May 1st through Sunday, May 5th. Is there a can't-miss improv show(s) that I should hit while I'm in town? I'm thinking Friday night, but I'm pretty flexible. Would love to start getting to know the improv community out here.
Orlando to Austin: at least for a visit...maybe longer?

Come on down! Austin has plenty of improv to be seen. Coming at the beginning of the month means several shows are just starting up.
For that weekend in particular I'd recommend any or all of the following:
– Hideout Theatre, Thursday 10pm: The Free Fringe, a free show where imps are allowed to try out whatever crazy-ass idea they want onstage.
- Institution Theatre, Friday 8pm and 10pm: Opening nights for The Next Chapter and The Suitcase, respectively. Details here for both.
– Hideout Theatre, Friday 10pm: Weekly show for Parallelogramophonograph, one of the best-regarded troupes in Austin, if not the country.
– ColdTowne Theater, Saturday 8:30: Opening night for Braised in Texas, an improvised BBQ mockumentary.
- Institution Theater, Sunday 7pm: Nerdprov, featuring four different geeky improv formats.
Whew. The only theater I'm not sure about is The New Movement, maybe Jesse or somebody in the know can opine if there are any badass shows going on in that timeframe.

That's 3 days after Moontower Comedy Festival so New Movement Austin will be decompressing a bit.
If for any reason you come to Austin a few days early:
http://www.austintheatre.org/site/PageS ... t_schedule
There's some amazing stand up booked for that festival. Jim Gaffigan, Michael Ian Black, Marc Maron etc.

Patrick & Mark Carpenter will be performing their Opposites show on May 1st. They do character switching and usually do a bad ass job tying things together with a nice big bow. Hit me up if you're interested in more information on that show or you want to check out the Megaphone Show or the Franchise the week you are in town.

Bah, I'm bummed to missing out on the Comedy Festival! And, I'm double-bummed that I'm leaving town before getting the chance to experience Nerdprov. Because that sounds kind of amazing.
Definitely send me some more info on Opposites. That might be a little hard for me to hit as that's the day I fly in, but it sounds great. I can definitely check out Pgraph on Friday.
Thanks, guys!
