Improvisational Keyboardist Wanted

Post by seedyeye »

I'm hosting a new ongoing variety show twice a month at the Spider House Ballroom. It's called The Dress Rehearsal (For more information on the show see my general info and casting post here: http://forum.austinimprov.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14863)

I'm looking for an improvisational keyboardist with a good sense of humor to do things like compose and play some sort of opening theme, improvise intro and outro music for the different performers, joke around and do occasional bits with the host, and generally add to the fun, casual and unpredictable atmosphere of the show. It's basically like a musical co-host, like Paul Shafer from the David Letterman Show or Reggie Watts from Comedy Bang Bang.

There is no pay, as this is a free show. So I'm looking for someone who would genuinely be enthusiastic to be involved in this role. If you think this sounds like a ton of fun and you would also like a chance to increase your exposure in the Austin live entertainment scene by playing around and showing off your talents in front of a real audience at a regular twice a month venue, please contact me.

Requirements:
-The ability to improvise music and lyrics.
-A sense of humor.
-Your own keyboard.
-Availability on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of every month.
-Prior improv or other comedy experience is a plus.

The show is at Spider House Ballroom (at Guadalupe and 29th) and runs every 1st and 3rd Wednesday. The first show is this April 3rd @ 9pm

If you are interested or know someone who may be, please contact Steve Harwood at DressRehearsalShow@gmail.com

Thanks!
