Oh my crap I'm teaching a workshop. HELP!

Post by happywaffle »

I'm excited to be doing my first-ever Hideout workshop next week, but I've never done one before. Any tips or suggestions for putting together a "lesson plan" and conducting the thing?

Maximize your time by allowing any warmups to incorporate key elements of what you are teaching without exposing your lesson too much.

Review each point/strength you are trying to teach as you step through.

Don't over explain, leave some mystery/discovery and possibility for glorious mistakes to be bounties of teaching/learning for them, and you.

I like the Socratic method asking them "What did that do for you?" "What did you notice/feel/enjoy/dislike?" so the instruction is self realized rather than told.

Review your points again.

End with positive discoveries provided by your students, and what you really enjoyed learned as well.

Profit.
