My mom wants a dog, ya'll. just moved into a new home that is slightly too big without her new dog which you may be able to supply. does anyone know of free or cheap puppies that are just hanging out?
does anyone know of a shelter that doesn't cost more than $1,000 to adopt? that's a joke. i'm really looking at a ceiling of around $80.

help my mom be happy again. it's christmas and a dog would be peachy. she so sad since i moved out 8 years ago. it's high time i deliver the dog she's been hinting about for 13 years.

nothing too big. nothing that is in danger of eating her. she's like george carlin that she doesn't want a dog that's bigger than her. she's not like george carlin in that she shaved the beard in the seventies and still puts out good records.

anyway, DOG. My MOM.
dogmom.

thanks, chums.

Try the SPCA: http://www.centraltexasspca.com

It's where I got my little dude Robin. Adoption fee was $95, included shots, registration, microchip... he was 1-2 years old and already housebroken, which was great. In addition, University Vet gives all shelter pets a free exam.

There's also the Humane Society shelter in town. I'm all for no-kill shelters because it lets me stay objective about my choice rather than thinking "If I don't adopt this dog NOW it will be put down as soon as I walk out that door."

i am also a new parent...i just adopted my little girl roxie from town lake shelter. adoption there is $75 which includes all the necessities. town lake is a kill shelter, but they have so many dogs and lots of them were very sweet. if you can come to terms with the fact that you can't save all of them, i would recommend it.

good luck. arf.

Paw Match is another good one. You can either go to the website or you can adopt at the Petco near 38th st and IH 35. It's in the same shopping center as the HEB and Old Navy. This guy goes around to all the small towns that euthenize their animals and brings them to this Petco in Austin to be adopted. I believe the total cost is 100-125.00 but this includes a coupon to have them fixed. We got a Great Dane puppy from him in September and she is awesome!!!!!

My aunt works a lot with animal shelters and animal rescue, mostly cats. But she was looking for a home for a great dog that was nearing the end of its stay at the shelter, and not in a good way. I will call her and find out details.

my sister and i found a cute, fluffy little dog at the town lake shelter. we're presenting it to my mom tomorrow after she gets spayed.
we may even get the dog spayed, too. HOH!
anyway, thanks for the advice.

i think the new puppy may make an appearance at friday's three-fer. she might even replace jon benner for our spring shows.
