Inside the Improviser's Studio interviews Dave Buckman

Post by beardedlamb »

Look familiar?

It's Austin Improv's own Dave Buckman and this Saturday in the Blank Show at 11:30, we'll see all sides of Dave in a no-holds barred interview about the craft, the business, and his personal world.
We'll talk about the early days and how his mother was an artist, his college days at American University, to Second City directing under Mick Napier, to Amsterdam directing Boom Chicago and future famous folks, to Cleveland where he met his wife Rachel, and finally to Austin.

We find out what makes him tick and maybe uncover the answer to that age-old question, "Why Austin?"

We'll do the questionaire and take questions from the audience.
We'll also take a look at old video footage and lots of old pictures of the man himself.

Won't you join us, you students of improv, you students of life.
I hope you can.
Jeremy

hehe. sorry. i am eating my shoe right now.
also, another correction, dave's grandmother was the artist. his mother was what he calls a "super-feminist." it will be interesting to find out what that entails.

DON'T MISS THIS SHOW.

all i know is that i probably shouldn't ask rachel if she wants to come up and see my etchings. the rest is semantics.

this show was a lot fun to do. thanks to everyone who came and to chris trew for helping with pictures, ann for doing lights and video stuff, and christina for running box office, rachel for providing me with inside dirt and dave for the old-school photos and videos.
of course a big thanks to dave for letting me ask him anything.

for tha annals, here are dave's answers to the bernard pivot questionnaire that lipton asks all the actors on the actor's studio:

what is your favorite word? - scene.
what is your least favorite word? - no.
what turns you on the most? - rachel naked.
what turns you off? - meanness, being rude.
what is your favorite curse word? - fuck.
boxers or kickboxers? - boxers.
what sound or noise do you love? - laughter.
what sound or noise do you hate? - really loud motorcycles that are unnecessarily loud. especially when you can hear them during shows.
improv or sketch? - improv.
cold and snowy or hot and dry? - hot and dry (immediate answer)
what profession other than your own would you like to attempt? - chef.
what profession would you not like to attempt? - marathon runner.
if heaven exists, what would like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? - "the audience is ready, the show's about to start, and here's this food i made for you."

thx.
